Call of Duty 2 is a 2005 first-person shooter video game, and is the second installment in the commercially successful Call of Duty series. It was developed by Infinity Ward, and the storyline is set during World War II. It was both critically and commercially successful upon release, and it was initially praised for its new features, such as the improved graphics, voice acting and its regenerating health system.
A strange phenomenon has been reported in the game, in which NPCs that have been killed will continually move their mouths as if they were speaking, even while they are laying on the ground, dead. This strange behavior may seem unsettling to the player at first. Some corpses have even been witnessed turning and twisting their heads around while their lips slowly move. At first, many players have witnessed this strange behavior, and have formed their own myths and stories about it, such as the dead soldiers being "undead" or the phenomenon having some paranormal explanation to it.
This is most likely the result of a glitch. This appears to happen more frequently with NPCs that are supposed to speak certain lines of dialogue, but they are killed before they can finish speaking, and their character models are stuck in the talking animation. However, this behavior has been observed in other random NPCs as well. Due to this strange glitch, many players have written fan-fiction stories about the corpses coming to life and killing the player.
